OXFORD -- The 32-year-old man, whose Burmese python accidentally strangled Shaiunna Hare, 2, has been arrested.
However, the arrest is not related to the python strangulation.
Sumter County Sheriff's deputies said Charles Darnell, 32, was arrested on narcotics charges.
Deputies said Darnell allegedly sold powdered cocaine to undercover agents in two separate incidences at his home.
Darnell was arrested during a traffic stop at Bob Jiffy's Mart on Highway 44 in Orange Homes.
He is facing multiple drug charges.
