I have learned so much about the United States this year, just reading and learning. The racism is usually silent and so you can be unaware as to what extent it exists.
I had never heard about the Donner family, an important part of American history, of course we don't study that when we are going to school. This was the first time I read all about it this year. I was horrified, saddened by all the details, the eating of human flesh. I would rather die.
The George Floyd incident was a real eye opener. I didn't realise how many aggressive people are over there with guns. The horror of so many people enabling and engaging in a war on democracy. That is scary.
Finally, the stupidity of this "free country" business and the denial of CV19. We have had 11 people in total die in our State. That's it. Our lives have pretty much returned to normal. You can't come in to our country unless you quarantine for 2 weeks. We still social distance and take precautions but everything else is pretty much business as usual. We just had to do the lockdown at the beginning in March until we got it under control then we were able to return to our ordinary lives. It's not rocket science.
Those in Melbourne that stirred up trouble and didn't obey the lockdown, were arrested. You have to follow the rules otherwise you put other peoples lives at risk. We don't tolerate dumbass behaviour. You will be disgraced on national TV if you do that. That happened to one woman who was incorrectly asserting she had rights under the United Nations. She was mouthing off in a big hardware franchise store. Stupid cow. Her name was Karen for the record.
