I'm exhausted

Yep, I've made a choice to stay in this area for as long as I can manage it.

Enjoy your job as long as you can afford to. There may come a time when money is more important to you. If and when it does, you'll know it and go after it. I did.

When I was young and working in the beginning, I was like a flitting fire fly.

I would take a job (In engineering) and work at it for a period of time, sometimes a year, sometimes only months. Each time I changed jobs, it was for a respectable much higher salary. I had a young wife and family and needed money.

I was impetuous, and couldn't wait for raises to be ascertained. When I felt I needed to make more money, if I didn't get a sizable raise, I changed jobs.

All and all, in the first 6 years, I had 12 different jobs! Only one of those jobs did I really enjoy leaving due to the engineering mgr, being a real shithead to me. He was on my case, from start of work day to end of work day!
I came to find out, his brother in-law got fired and needed a job, but the mgr just hired me. So he made life miserable for me, so I would leave on my own,
as he couldn't fire me since I went through an engineering placement service and he paid them a tidy sum for placing me there. He would get a refund only
if I left on my own within 2 months! So it wound up I left before 2 months.
He was happy, I was happy I got a betting paying job!

Job number 13, turned out to be a lucky number for me, as when I looked around at the other employees there, most were there 30 to 40 years. That's when I realized I could likely make a life long career myself at this company.
As it turned out, I made a career there, I eventually became Engineering Dept mgr,
(In charge of 177 employees) and worked there for 35 years until I retired, at a 6 figure salary. (PS: I enjoyed my job, "until I had to lay people off", when things slowed down)
