I think I agree with Piglet. You may not be a full blown narcissist, however, but narcissistic tendencies seem like a reasonable explanation as to why you do it which you said that you were trying to figure out yourself.

No, narcissists often hide their true selves from the people closest to them. You dont have to be a full on narcissist to have narcissistic traits, I have them.
