I'm not sure if it would be considered trauma, but his bio mom pretty much abandoned all 3 kids when they were little.  She did pop in and out of their lives while they were growing up.  She also gave him permission (and I mean this literally) to physically abuse his sisters.  I put a stop to that shit 20 years ago.  

I don't think the kids shower problem has to do with trauma, I think it's laziness.  He's always had an attitude of "I live here, that should be good enough for you"

I called the cops on him once, about 18 years ago, because he was trying to force his then pregnant sister to shovel snow, and when I put a stop to it, he took a swing at me.  He spent the night in jail and then begged his father not to throw him out. 

He's still afraid of me for some reason. I mean, it could be because I beamed him on the head with a shovel and dropped him off at a homeless shelter a few days later.
