A few years ago I drove off with the pump still in my car. Automatic $271 (they even have signs to that effect on the pumps).

Beyond one major collision where I miraculously survived largely unscathed, I had a car that lost its brakes on the freeway and the alternator on another car died—also on the freeway. Neither of those were pleasant experiences.

My current car tells me exactly how many miles I have left when it hits low. I’d have to be pretty stupid to run out of gas in that thing.

They had signs at the gas pumps in Colorado about driving off with the gas pumps stil in the car. I took a picture of it because I couldn't imagine how so many people could do it that it would require them to put up signs. We don't do that here in Florida, we just smoke cigarettes and weed by the pumps.
