Got an email from my mom’s church that she’d been sponsoring a young girl in Nepal for several years (knew about it vaguely).
Anyway I immediately said my husband and I would take over sponsorship of Pemba.
Sent my husband an email telling him we’d “adopted” and he wrote back:
“Nice. You realize 81% of the population there is Hindu”.
I asked him later, so what’s your beef (har, har) with Hindus?
He pointed out we were sponsoring a kid through a Christian organization that’s likely arm twisting people to convert.
Fuck. But I was brought up Lutheran! Not an in your face group. Sigh. Oh well.
