There are so many things that factor into that. Race aside, I think income inequality is more relevant.
I like the idea of meritocracy but there are serious problems that arise when resources are allocated on the presumption of merit, e.g., executive compensation.
Yeah . . . like multi-million dollar sports contracts . . . players and coaches.
Do athletes have golden parachutes?
I dunno. If they have a good agent . . . maybe?
Does the team have insurance coverage, naming them beneficiaries, upon death, disability, contract termination or criminal convictions?
