I think both sides are worried; there's a lot at stake beyond the presidency in this election.
It's difficult for Republican congresspersons, I imagine. If they think Trump is bad for the party and the country, should they refuse to let him redefine the party's standards and refuse to support him? If so, they're helping the opposing party candidate who they think is bad for the country too. Plus, they've got job security to worry about.
