Did you objectively watch the unedited, narrative-free video, Maggot?

His own chief can't defend the idiocy on display and the chief sure would if he could.

11 other cops on the scene, all conducting themselves professionally and containing the situation. One cop off-the-rails.

It's bullshit to suggest that Hyper-Cop resigned because of skewed media or anything but his own actions, IMO. I think he resigned before he justifiably got fired.

If he'd shot and killed one of those obviously unarmed kids (in bikinis and swim trunks, FFS) with 11 other cops calmly working the scene, would you have defended him? I suspect so, my friend.

Hyper-Cop did himself & society a favor by resigning! The End.

Why isn't anyone holding these kids responsible for NOT following police "commands"?

WTF! Do these kids suffer from short term memory loss regarding cop/citizen shootings?

If I see flashing lights in my rear view mirror . . . I pull over. I don't give a damn even if I know I haven't broken the law. I pull over and am compliant.

If I have been mistreated, I will take appropriate action once I am safe and calm.

FFS! What is so difficult about the concept cops will sometimes get it wrong?

And if you resist or appear threatening or belligerent, you just might end up injured or dead.

Unless, of course, you're deliberately trying to provoke a response and squeeze a settlement out of the department.

The teens apparently didn't break any laws, they weren't resisting arrest as there was no probable cause and no arrests were attempted, and it's not against the law to run or leave when you're told to leave.

It's also not against the law to talk shit about the cops (if that's what happened) as you're moving along.

The girl in the bikini was leaving, as she was told, when Casebolt apparently thought she was talking shit. He threw her down to the ground, put his knee in her back, and waved his gun at her friends who'd come closer after her cries for help. I don't think that's contested by anyone, and it's reflected in the video.

It's a huge stretch to suggest that the kids went to the publicly-advertised free pool party thinking the cops would be called and setting up a scenario whereby they'd get hurt by a cop so they could file a suit. They just went to a pool party, some people at the party didn't want them there, a dispute broke out, and cops were called to diffuse the pool-side confrontation. That's my understanding.

However, Casebolt's inappropriate handling of the situation and what his chief calls his "indefensible actions" may well result in him being charged criminally or civilly.

I am not defending this asshole's actions.

However, why provoke a situation when, for the past several months, the public has been entertained by cops gone trigger happy?

If a cop says beat it; bite your tongue and comply.

Or you just might be the "it" that's beaten.

Keeping your mouth shut increases the odds you will not be a victim of brutality, by a nut-job cop.

If I recall the video correctly, the gun didn't come out until two kids went to assist the damsel in distress.

Dumb move on their part.

A segregated pool would have prevented this unfortunate event.

That's why a rope is strung half way in the middle of the pool, I have a cool blue and white one in mine, white kids in the deep end and black kids in the shallow end. hah

That's just cause black kids don't know how to swim.

Technically the kids were trespassing when they climbed over the fence to the pool area, but what teenager hasn't done that.

This was a mixed group of kids... black, white, hispanic... there were other kids detained besides black kids as well.

Either way, Officer Barrel Roll over-reacted. If the environment wasn't as toxic as it is he might have survived some admin leave and retraining; but once your boss says publicly that you're out of control, resigning is your only option.

So it's over, he resigned. That's the end of the story here. Agitators are going to press for charges to be filed I guess and keep protesting it looks like.
