I haven't seen any yet, but I'm definitely on the watch. June is the month when I usually start seeing them.

I was going to tell you that twins are the norm when it comes to deer, but I double-checked that and found it's about half. I guess I got lucky when I mostly see twins except for the one last summer. I had a doe leave her fawn here for about a month. Of course she would return to him daily, but I never saw that, I just saw the fawn everyday. I was so charmed by that little critter. I see deer here everyday, but there has been a lone, pregnant doe who spends a significant amount of time here for probably the last month. I'm choosing to think it's the same one from last summer so I got a fresh deer block and some more corn and I'm hoping it encourages her to have her baby here.

What are the deer doing now? Any new babies?

There is a male quail roaming around w/out its mate. It breaks my heart. They mate for life.

No babies yet! I'm still on the watch.

Could the female be sitting on the nest?

From what i understand about the way the couples act it doesn't seem likely. They both watch the nest.

Now I feel sad for him that he doesn't have his mate. Wah  :(

WEll.....I may be wrong...there was one lone male quail eating seed today and then his mate just joined him, so maybe. Now they are eating together. I will remain hopeful.

So there is a flock of 6 baby/young quail running around. They are so cute.

Normally I see a male and female quail hanging out together-and with a family I would expect that I would see the mom and pop and the babies-but it seems there is a bunch of maile quail watching the babies, it really is strange and cool to see.
