ARE YOU WELL MANNERED?
#1
I suppose no one would admit to not being so, but nonetheless I'm curious.

I don't know if it's the time we're living in or parents don't care to teach their kids even the most basic of manners, but I encounter bad mannered people weekly now. For example, there's a new-ish guy at the deli, he just stares at me when I make my request. He doesn't smile, he doesn't engage, he never says a fuckin' word. I've had about 4-5 weeks of this shit now and I'm always polite, please & thank you. I recently wondered if his face would change if I told him to have a fucked up day as I was turning to leave.

Live dangerously, go ahead and tell him and see what happens!
Just be prepared if he may have a great retort.

(Oh yeah, yes I'm well mannered. 99% of the time)

That would be super annoying. I encounter people of varying degrees of manners all the time.

Maybe ask the kid if he is okay? Like in a really concerned voice, "Are you okay? You seem very unhappy"

Yeah same here. 99% of the time. I'm making progress on being less socially awkward.

I don't think I've ever dealt with a more strange human face to face. He is completely emotionless and silent.

That never occurred to me AT ALL. I'm viewing him completely different now, certainly with more understanding.

It's called etiquette and couth. I was taught it as a kid as were my own kids. There is a time and a place for everything. I might curse like a sailor at home or here for example, but I know how to behave in public. I'm Miss Manners. I also try to always be nice to everyone because you never know what people are going through in life. I've had people calling me up cussing out our salesman for not getting back to them, well his wife just died so....
