the 2022, trivial, boring, I really miss the old lady, boring drivel thread

There isn't much being written these days that merits going to the trouble of learning how to read at an 8th grade level.

Correlation doesn't necessarily equate to causation, but that doesn't mean it's inconsequential. Kids aren't stupid, and usually know when they're being bullshitted. Public schools provide nothing in the way of survival skills, which is what children need most -- now more than ever. They're a waste of public resources.

If you grow up speaking with a dialect that is factored by social class then basic reading skills will be difficult to learn.

You have to factor in learning disabilities, as well. Autism is increasing exponentially and Mental health is declining rapidly, neither of which is conducive to learning. Now we see kids arriving at college completely unprepared, so higher learning is being dumbed down, as well.

Autism seems to be increasing because there is a growing awareness of it now. Before it had a name, all of these kids were just classified as mentally retarded or emotionally unstable and given drugs. Same with ADHD, they were classified as hyperactive and given drugs. So we now have generations of people raised on psychiatric drugs.

You're impatient. Good! I view that as a positive sign, I'd be concerned if you weren't.

I'm so glad to see you aren't letting the walker slow you down and keep you at home! You're doing great, Cars!

Twice I tried to type out messages tonight and twice I deleted them.

There was someone that had an accident on and electric bike and they were walking around w/ a walker for a while and just recently someone said that they were walking just fine now and it made me think of Cars when they told me. I hope that is you soon!

I don't remember all of the details of the accident other than they had hit a wall going pretty fast and had to be med evac'd out.

Yes!

Another thing is this social media crap is driving people nuts too. If people weren't already nuts they now get to stare at their phones all day everyday and live their life through it.

I just picked up 35 cases of canning jars that have been sitting in somebody's cellar for years.    My dishwasher is going to be running 247 for a week.

I just found a receipt for my 13'th jump with "KIWI" four days later the plane we jumped from crashed and killed him, on my 14'th jump I self induced a malfunction of my main parachute and came seconds from dying having trouble deploying my reserve parachute. I ended doing 350 jumps with the last one not being a good one.

I think so too. You'd have to put a gun to my head to get me to jump out of a plane and even then I might choose the bullet.

Tanzania's government has installed broadband Wi-Fi on Mount Kilimanjaro. Tourists can now communicate worldwide from the summit.

I know this isn't about America, but how can they install wi-fi on one of the tallest mountains in the world, but find it nearly impossible to connect rural America.

Following my Daughter up to Portland Me. Sunday to move her into her dorm. This year she is in one with 2 bedrooms and 4 people. Two people per bedroom with a central living room and kitchen on the second floor, much better than the 4th floor heat bungalow her freshman year. I still never got a straight answer about what job she will be doing when she gets done and I hope she thinks about that this year because I will really bug her more as the years go by. She will probably be an English teacher in the end that I'm not to happy about.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.
