I’m going to go out on a limb and say it ends when your heart stops beating, oxygen is gone from your brain and your organs fail. When you’re declared medically dead. 

But some who believe in an afterlife or rebirth or that souls live on might disagree. 

If someone believes strongly in rebirth, is there ever real death?

Death will end when life ends, life will end when death ends, because together they form a cycle. Singularity transformed into duality. Forces that appear to be in opposition but in actuality form a dynamic system. In the absence of this system there is only pure consciousness.
