That's how I found out about my childhood best friend.

I’m going to go to my mom’s house sometime this weekend for a few days (by myself). It’s going to be so weird to be there without her (grief) and I get to reminisce about so many good times there too. Probably the last time I’ll stay in the house that was “home” for me starting when I was around 11.
Something I need to do but even more than her memorial service, this feels like a huge goodbye to her, my dad, my youth, my…foundation. Smiley_emoticons_slash

Thank you. It hit me like a brick last night…imagining locking up the house the morning I leave (without my mom waving me off per usual). I’m actually a little scared going through that. I don’t cry easily (sometimes I wish I did…when I think a dose of tears would be a release) but this? I’m afraid it’s going to be a damn tsunami (and it’s intimidating).

How can a new pickup cost more than my parent's first house? Good lord!

I made a good decision today. I got a hotel room and DON’T plan to sleep at my childhood home. I’ll spend my days there sorting through stuff (which will be hard enough) but not a glutton for punishment. The last nights I spent there were with my mom the week before she died. No reason for me to NOT have those memories as my last nights there.

It’s better.

That sounds like the right thing to do.

Oh good idea.

I hope the sorting goes well considering.
Hugs from me also.

I'm nearly certain that men are waaaay more dramatic than women.

So I survived my trip to my mom’s house. The worst part is finding like her and my dad’s report cards and shit from when they were young and making decisions to toss that stuff. Heartbreaking but we’re not there yet; more looking over bigger items before we deep dive into things like that.

I did find all the cards from me to my parents that they collected over the years. Re-read them and tossed them.

They mostly started out with….”I’m sorry…”.  hah  I wasn’t an easy kid.

I love text messaging. More often than not I would rather deal with text messages than with phone calls.

Me too. Unless I end up having to type several paragraphs, texts are just fine.

I will type a short novel before picking up the phone (in many cases).

Do y’all use both hands to text? I only use my right thumb. A holdover from the days when I *used* to text and drive. Plus I’ve purposefully stayed away from the larger iPhones. I think they’re discontinuing any minis that they offered so eventually I’ll probably end up with something that doesn’t easily fit in my pocket (unfortunately).

No, I only use my middle finger on my right hand.

If a text comes in while I'm at my desk on my Mac the iMessage will come right up on my Mac screen and I type as I normally would.

I don't even want to talk about texting it annoys me so much. I am fine if I can use a keyboard-like for fb messenger, but if I have to type out a whole fucking paragraph to someone-I'm annoyed.

I laughed at "I'm sorry" lol

I've been working on getting rid of stuff and not keeping so much stuff. One of the new workers is really good about seeing a piece of paper and then just throwing it away (or recycling it). Its magical to me!
