~~trying to reason with hurricane season~~

My brother lost his, and he lost cell service, but it was very brief.

Damn straight I'd be wondering where the fuck is Sally. It's not like you're away at the Magic Kingdom gettin' shitfaced by the lagoon.

They were spared if you want to call it that. Where do you live? Just curious, not trying to stalk you or anything.

A bit to the north of NY City. Last time I experienced a hurricane was in the early 90's, I think. Very rare occurrence.

You're a brave lass, Sally. Has to be terrifying going through that when you're right at sea level. Glad you're OK so far!

We just got out of our walk-in closet, and saw on TV that we “had a tornado” just 4 miles away!
Cars strewn all over mangled, buildings ripped in half, trees ripped out of the ground, debris all over,
Just unbelievable! So close, and still so far, We where so lucky, thank ya Jesus!

Was your house shaking?

You could have ended up in Oz!  hah

My mom had one 2 miles away about 20 years ago. I think they had another one in the same location about 10 years ago, and another one 10 miles away 3 years ago. A nice reminder that we're not quite as powerful as we like to think we are.

I've never been in a direct hit before and don't want to be, I'd definitely evacuate for that. Right now the sound of the rain and wind is kind of peaceful. By tomorrow morning is when we'll get the 60-80 mph which really isn't even that bad either.

No but we were. There was extensive lightning and bone rattling thunder that resonated (similar to heavy duty fireworks displays) within our bodies! We could feel the poring rain and noisy wind on our roof and windows. Being in our walk-in closet drove home the fact of the danger.

So relieved to see you in here. I felt uncertain what morning would bring for you.

My entire fence blew down, but I already knew that was going to happen. Surprisingly I still have power. Now just 12 more hours of this shit.

I just saw a headline that said "Hundreds of Floridians feared dead in hurricane flooding". AwfulAwfulAwful. I hope it's wrong.

That's in Lee County where my brother in law's house is being built. It was near completion and they were due to move in there in November. It may be under water now, Lee County got decimated. We told them not to move there.

It looks like another one is forming and could hit the east coast now. I'm getting the fuck out of here if that happens, this is enough for me.

Sad about the deaths. Also makes me mad. It seems fucked up that they couldn't escape.

I am glad you are going.

Yeah, it's very bad  :(

I was going to post more pix, but I began to feel very apprehensive because I was worried about inadvertently seeing animals, either dead or in distress. I can't handle that stuff, it stays in my head.

How are your brother's? I know Jacksonville got pretty much the same as us. I thought it was dying down for a second and now were back to 70 mph wind gusts. I'm near the ocean so that makes a difference, however.

The one is Jax is fine, didn't lose electricity & had cell service, the other one hasn't had power for more than 24 hours now. The last I texted with him he was cleaning up outdoors and was considering tossing all his food in the fridge/freezer in the house and the freezer in the garage. He said the ground was handling all the rain so he didn't have any flooding. Thanks for asking!

It brought in a cold front, that's for sure.

It must feel delicious after the extreme humidity all Summer.

I say that knowing that 75-80 degrees with no humidity feels chilly to me after a Summer spent with extreme humidity.

Well it was officially confirmed last night, we had 2 Tornados in my area. One 4 miles away and the other
7 miles away.  They say it’s supposed to go down to “72” tonight ! Need to look for my coat.  hah
