So did I!

Is this where the term "going postal" first came to be?

I would like to think I would be able to HotD, but my pro gun attitude/lifestyle would probably keep me from being as open minded as I would like to be.

No its not Duch. That term was coind when P.H.Sherrill , a postal worker in OKC [he lived just a few blocks from me when this happened] went to work and shot up the place. Look a little further down that list of shootings and you will see that name.

I can understand that, F.U.

From your OP link:

In a column penned by Mediaite.com's Joe Concha titled "Harvey's Hypocrisy," the conservative columnist points out that gun violence is prevalent throughout many of Weinstein's highest grossing films at the box office.

"Pulp Fiction," "Reservoir Dogs," "Django Unchained," "Kill Bill," and "Rambo" are just a few of the films Weinstein has financed over the years, Concha wrote, illustrating the Hollywood producer's "hypocrisy" when it comes to making money for himself and denying law-abiding American citizens their rights.

Interesting bit. If (assuming here) Weinsten doesn't believe that his previously-financed fictional movies have prompted gun violence through glorification, I wonder why he feels so sure that his new anti-gun movie will make Americans wanna throw down their guns and make the NRA wish they weren't alive.

Very good point HotD.

I really would like to see this movie on the big screen. Part of the reason would be to see the movie and part would also be so that I could get a feel for what the general publics reaction to it is. I think a person could learn alot about the thoughts of the viewers just by watching/listening to there reactions as the movie is shown, as well as listening to them talk about what they had seen, as they left the theater.

I would watch it for that reason and I bet a few others will also. A person might become famous if they did a truly un-biased story with film outside of a few strategically placed theaters.

The last time I checked films weren't real but mass shootings are real.

This may have changed but nobody told me.

And again the focus on the type of gun? I really couldn't a toss.

I must be crazy and wild and “out there”! But my focus tends to be on the dead victims not the calibre and technical specifications of the gun the killer used.

Pistol, assault rifle, shotgun etc the deceased victims of all three are equally as dead is the point I'm making.

A lot of people, including you OP, put a lot of attention on the fact that "assault weapons" are so readily accessible here in the USA, and if they were not available this sort of thing wouldn't happen. I point out the fact that "assault rifles" are used in only 14 of these shootings and now you say big deal, I don't care what type firearm was used? When the evil black rifles were being used everyone had to turn their attention towards the specific type of gun, but now that shotguns and handguns are being used you want to ignore the type weapon used ?

I also pointed out the fact that the number of these mass shootings has not changed over the last 30 years, even though population has risen. 20-30 years ago no one gave a hairy rats ass about it , except for the friends and relatives of those shot, it was hardly a blip on the 5 o'clock news. But now the media has gotten ahold of the stories and everyone is up in arms.

Recently the media figured out that murder pays and when one of these stories pop up they milk it for all its worth. Its all about the money/ratings to them. Just like the guberment really couldn't care who owned what type weapons, as long as they get their cut of the cash cow. Its all a money game to them. Everyone is milking that cash cow to fill their own pockets. They just want to sound like they care and make us believe they care.

I NEVER said that, you are putting words in my mouth.

Please quote the post where I said “if it wasn't for assault weapons these mass shootings wouldn't happen”.

Shall I save you time? I NEVER said that. Why? Because it is common knowledge that mass shootings often are done without assault weapons but the fact is sometimes they are. And if I was a nutcase wanting to kill as many people as possible the assault weapon would be my weapon of choice.

I do go with the father of one of the victims of a mass shooting that WAS done with assault weapons though. “These guns serve no practical purpose, my son was shot and killed with a gun no American citizen needs to have” I agree with that sentiment but I also know mass shootings would still happen without assault weapons.

Again I'm crazy! I'm obsessed with the victims not the guns! I must be insane to put the victims first!

You may not have used those words, but like so many others every time a modern sporting rifle was used there was a great amount of emphasis put on the firearm of choice. Saying that they have no use, they need to go, no one should be allowed to own them, etc. In my book, thats the same thing as saying if only these rifles didn't exist this would not have happened.

Now how about getting back on track and commenting on the movie that this thread was started about ?

I may not have used those words?

Replace “may not” with “definitely did not” you lied and completely misquoted me I neither said nor implied banning assault weaopons would stop mass shootings. That is a blatant mistruth and an outright lie.

An assault rifle is not a “sporting rifle” unless killing as many people as possible as efficiently as possible has become an olympic event?

I will comment on the film after I see it.

Sorry you are not an authority here and are in no position to instruct me to be on topic. Threads in Mock rarely, if ever, stay on topic homeboy but I think you already know that!

Modern Sporting Rifle Facts

The modern sporting rifle, based on the AR-15 platform, is widely misunderstood. Why? Confusion exists because while these rifles may cosmetically look like military rifles, they do not function the same way. Also, groups wanting to ban these rifles have for years purposely or through ignorance spread misinformation about them to aid their cause.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation asks you to be an informed gun owner and to use the following facts to correct misconceptions about these rifles. Remember, that if AR-15-style modern sporting rifles are banned, your favorite traditional-looking hunting or target shooting semi-automatic firearm could be banned, too.

AR-15-platform rifles are among the most popular firearms being sold. They are today's modern sporting rifle.

The AR in "AR-15" rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. "AR" does NOT stand for "assault rifle" or "automatic rifle."

AR-15-style rifles are NOT "assault weapons" or "assault rifles." An assault rifle is fully automatic -- a machine gun. Automatic firearms have been severely restricted from civilian ownership since 1934.

If someone calls an AR-15-style rifle an "assault weapon," he or she either supports banning these firearms or does not understand their function and sporting use, or both. Please correct them. "Assault weapon" is a political term created by California anti-gun legislators to ban some semi-automatic rifles there in the 1980s.

AR-15-style rifles look like military rifles, such as the M-16, but function like other semi-automatic civilian sporting firearms, firing only one round with each pull of the trigger.

Versions of modern sporting rifles are legal to own in all 50 states, provided the purchaser passes the mandatory FBI background check required for all retail firearm purchasers.

Since the 19th century, civilian sporting rifles have evolved from their military predecessors. The modern sporting rifle simply follows that tradition.

These rifles' accuracy, reliability, ruggedness and versatility serve target shooters and hunters well. They are true all-weather firearms.

Chamberings include .22, .223 (5.56 x 45mm), 6.8 SPC, .308, .450 Bushmaster and about a dozen others. Upper receivers for pistol calibers such as 9 mm, .40, and .45 are available. There are even .410 shotgun versions.

These rifles are used for many different types of hunting, from varmint to big game. And they're used for target shooting in the national matches.

AR-15-style rifles are no more powerful than other hunting rifles of the same caliber and in most cases are chambered in calibers less powerful than common big-game hunting cartridges like the 30-06 Springfield and .300 Win. Mag.

The AR-15 platform is modular. Owners like being able to affix different "uppers" (the barrel and chamber) to the "lower" (the grip, stock).

And, they are a lot of fun to shoot!

All you are doing is proving my point.

You care more about your right to own an AR-15 than you care about the rights of school pupils not to get shot in the face by an AR-15 wielded by a homicidal nutcase.

You'd rather nitpick and argue the toss over what constitutes an “assault weapon” than say what you would say to the father of a boy shot and killed by an AR-15.

Thanks for not denying you are a liar either, at least you were honest about that.

I never lied OP, You, like so many others put a lot of blame on the firearm. Saying it needs to go, no one needs one, etc. IN MY BOOK, that is implying that if they did not exist this shit may not happen. I dont give a flying fuck if you used those exact words, I can read between the lines.

Yes I am, nit picking about the rifle, because people like you mislabel them. Assault is a action, not a device.

I do care about the kids that get shot. However I care about MY RIGHTS also. I refuse to give up my rights because some idiot 12 way across the country misused a tool.

I don't expect you to understand this OP. The way guns are regulated in your country, the job you now hold and years of brainwashing you that guns are bad. I don't ever expect you to understand.

Now if you would excuse me, I have to strap on some guns, put my coat on and go start my truck so I can go to work and sell more guns.
Have a wonderful day.

(I couldn't give a fuck about “IN MY BOOK” you said I said “banning assault rifles would stop mass shootings” and I never said that. That is not a matter of perception or opinion that is a undeniable FACT homeboy! Toronto is the capital of America “IN MY BOOK” does that make it true? Does it fuck!)

(Yes assault is an action, an action like assaulting a school and killing people with an AR-15 fucknut!)

I do care about the kids that get shot. However I care about MY RIGHTS also. I refuse to give up my rights because some idiot 12 way across the country misused a tool.

(You care about the rights of the victims? Bollocks! that is the first time you have even mentioned them in this thread. The fact you put “MY RIGHTS” in block capitals reveals what your priority is! Oh and as previously discussed and put to bed with our old friend dick? a gun is a weapon not a tool! The only tools are people who deny guns are weapons just like dick!)

I don't expect you to understand this OP. The way guns are regulated in your country, the job you now hold and years of brainwashing you that guns are bad. I don't ever expect you to understand.

(I don't expect you to understand either the way guns are regulated in your country, the job you now hold “selling guns” and years of drinking so much NRA koolaid it dribbles out of your nose and ears when you sneeze. I don't ever expect you to understand either)

Now if you would excuse me, I have to strap on some guns, put my coat on and go start my truck so I can go to work and sell more guns.
Have a wonderful day.

(I'm busy next week as well taking away kids and grandkids from homes where fucking irreponsible heavy drinking bar fighting fuckwits like you have loaded guns on the table during breakfast.

Have a nice day!)

I saw Harvey Weinstein talking about this picture. So I am in the picture on this subject a bit more, so to speak. I think the negative backlash that it has already received, given that the damn picture isn't even made yet, speaks volumes of the insecurity of these people. They are easily threatened and easily have their feathers ruffled. I think deep down they know they are in the wrong, but they are fighting to be right. Poor them. I don't think it will ever change, the horse has bolted.
