Society has forced Gays into an emotional prison for too long.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't think it's wrong or there should be a law against it or anything. Far from it. I'm just admitting to a little discomfort when I see pronounced PDA's from gay people. To the extent it bothers me beyond what I might feel from the same display by a hetero couple is my problem, not theirs.

My brother is gay and I witnessed him being subjected to 33 electric shock treatments at the age of 15 because he told our Babtist parents he was gay back in 1966...The first thing he was asked, upon his return home after his 3 month stay at the hospital under this therapy was if he was still gay; to which he honestly replied 'yes'. He was told to leave and not return because any success he may make in his life would never overcome the failure he was for being gay. He is a person who valued the honest representation of himself above the shame and pain of other's misunderstanding (including the ones he loved and who claimed to love him)

That's sad, zero. I am pro choice. I have a few friends that are gay, lesbian, and bisexual. It's doesn't change the great person they are within.

You have extrapolated a meaning that the photo in question does not speak to. It is only two people that have missed each other as one fought in war and his safe return was uncertain. Heterosexuals have the same experience and are free to express their deep emotions evoked by those real life events at the moment they are reunited. It in no way conveys a meaning of having sex in public or is it supporting irresponsible sexual activity of any kind.

The Senators were protecting the sanctaty of hetrosexual marrige and stated that extending equal relationship rights to all would somehow destroy the meaning of heterosexual unions. They may have very well missed each other, but I see the picture more as a display of "I'm loud and I'm proud and I'll make a spectacle of myself to prove it". I'm not trivializing the prejudice that gays face, but some things don't become a big deal unless you make it a big deal. Like I said before, had they just hugged and kissed like normal people then no one would even be discussing it now.

The only problem I have with them is that they act like they have to prove themselves and make a big scene. Couldn't they just give each other a hug like a normal person, is all that other bullshit really necessary? It would equally annoy me if I saw heteros behaving that way, but gays seem to do it more often.
