Suspending the kids from the bus is no punishment for the kids. They get to be driven to school in a nice comfy car. It's a punishment for the parents.

They should make the kids publically apologize to the lady at a school assembly and then present to the school a workshop on bullying and the affects on the person being bullied - both children and adults.

While I can see the reason every one is up in arms about this, I seem to want to place the blame a little differently the kids were no doubt out of line and are little assholes that need to have their heads knocked off, but I blame the bus company, bus monitors should be able to handle this crap, you don't stick a little old disabled woman in this position,put a 40 something man in that seat and this wouldn't have happened.

Those kids were little bastards but any guy here can attest that at that age being a complete dumbass is pretty much your job. Middle school boys are idiots by nature, they wind each other up and egg each other on to ever more ridiculous stunts. Christ when I was a kid the shit I did just for my own amusement sent a couple teachers into early retirement.
The problem here is that these kids have been encouraged to think mean and stupid are the same as funny and cool. Thanks, Jersey Shore. Meanwhile, there's this whole attitude with padents these days that "my kid is an angel and nobody better touch him" where when we were kids, acting up was a death sentence at home. Now parents just lawyer up if a kid acts out and gets reprimanded. There is no accountability.
I don't want to paint the whole town this way, but the district this happened in is a buge one, almost as big as Rochester itself, and it's very bluecollar, heavy Italian. In recent years every facet of its leadership from police to fire to political to education has been in the news for corruption, criminal acts or other shady doings. Tell me those little rotten apples didn't come from that tree.There's a very real divide here between "eastsiders" and "westsiders" and this stuff only reinforces that classist sentiment.

My kids both had the exact same response. I watched it with my son but my daughter was so bothered by the idea, she didn't want to see it. When I asked them what they would have done, they both said they would have punched the kid(s). Neither could believe nobody stood up for her.

No 40 year old man is going to take the job of a bus monitor.Well, maybe Clang since he is currently unemployed. But I doubt it. So what we get is older men and women that either volunteer or do it to supplement their retirement benefits.

You look at teacher, The bus company has ultimate responsibility for their hiring policy.

They hired the wrong person, deaf over weight feeble old woman should not have been part of the criteria in the job requirements.

There are millions of people out of work ramsey or did you miss that? I think there are many thousands of men who would have taken the job.
