RE: BREAKING: Shooting at Conn. Elementary School - Sphincter Cop - 12-14-2012

A second suspect (younger brother) has now been taken into custody?

Wow, I don't care for the news interviews of the kids !! Just stupid!

Sick and tired of hearing about mental illness. Anyone who can slaughter a class full of kindergartners is just plain EVIL!!!

RE: BREAKING: Shooting at Conn. Elementary School - Sphincter Cop - 12-14-2012

By Miguel Llanos, NBC News

The gunman who killed 26 people, 20 of them children, in Newtown, Conn., was 24-year-old Ryan Lanza and he targeted his mother, a kindergarten teacher who was among the dead, sources told NBC News on Friday.

A second family member was found shot to death at that person's home in Newtown.

Police also were interviewing a brother to find out what he knew, sources told WNBC.

Records show a Ryan Lanza living in Hoboken, N.J., at a home that police searched shortly after Friday morning's attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

He lived near the school between 2006 and 2011, those records also show.

NBC's Pete Williams and WNBC's Jonathan Dienst contributed to this report.

I just heard a LT. with the State Police say there is one reported injury. One.

I listened to a father talk about his child who was there, he said a week ago they had a discussion regarding the shooting at the mall, he told his children they didn't have to be afraid, that the chance of anything like that happening to them was one in a zillion.

I cannot imagine what that father is feeling right now, or any parent who has lost a child or is still in limbo of not knowing.

This is beyond sad and horrifying. Yet, it continues without warning.

On a seperate note; There is so much conflicting information regarding all of this right now; its cuckoo!!!!

News is slow with these things speculation is everywhere.

Watching CNN on tv and they are saying LEO have two people in custody, one may be a roommate?

Duchess: I heard that interview too about being safe and it not happening there. I also heard that only one was injured and what did they suspect that meant and why not having a higher number of injured. I was initially thinking well maybe he had some training but then remembered how many shells they are saying are left behind/spent. I'm having a hard time trying to block out the horror those children faced. I'm so sick to my stomach it's not even funny. They are altering his attack to initially being his mother but to definitely have a mass shooting/deaths.

So, as some of you may know, I have a kindergartner and a pre-schooler.

They've both used the words 'die/kill' and heard them, but I don't think they fully understand them.

I ask you all: Do I talk to them about this?

I really don't want to.

I'm disgusted seeing these little kids being interviewed. The media hounds have no shame.

The parents bear some responsibility too for allowing it.

I said that, but then deleted it. Didn't want to get shit started about grieving parents and their actions.

I can't say if you should talk with them about this specific or recent incidents or not.

When my kids were about 6 & 8 I started to talk to them about their personal safety. Mostly about being aware of their surroundings and the people they come in contact with.

As time went on I frequently reminded them about being safe in everything they did. Whether it was walking facing traffic or looking at the people around them. I also wanted them to be able to talk to me about anything that worried them or made them afraid.

There are many resources available in most communities that teach personal safety. I would recommend you take a course or class that will help you communicate to your young ones the importance of being safe in all aspects of their life.

Our recent experience here and todays tragedy in CT should make every parent take stock of how they can help their children survive should they ever be put in such a situation.

No. Definitely not.

I'm pretty sure that the shooter is 20 year-old Adam Lanza. He lived with his mother, Nancy Lanza, in Sandy Hook.

I saw an interview with a neighbor. Only mother and son lived in the home and son was troubled. Ryan Lanza lives in New Jersey.
