I lied. I lied to my kids today in second period. I told them it was just a drill. I told them to get behind my couches (thank GOD I ditched desks and have bulky furniture!) and be quiet - the more quiet we are the faster the drill will end. I knew it was a lie. I knew this was what I always plan my furniture arrangement for every year. My kids were able to just hide and not panic for over 10 minutes, until we heard the banging on doors, walkie talkies, and yelling in the hallway. Then I had to come clean. My kids - and that’s what they are. Not just students. They are MY KIDS- were so brave. They still trusted me and did exactly what I asked. I felt so helpless. 18 of my kids. And all I could do was ask them to listen to me and to hide. It was the worst 20 minutes of my career. 18 kids. Depending on me. Anna somewhere in the building unable to get to me, or me to her. No idea what’s going on. More yelling, banging on doors. Finally the door is opening and we’re evacuated to the football field. Cops everywhere. Guns pointed at us as we leave. And still they do exactly what I ask. My kids. Frantically looking for Anna until I have her with me. All 19 of my kids safe. My planning paid off. Planning I wish I had never had to actually execute.

There is a man in Kentucky who had recently been arrested for terroristic threatening. He was released on $1000 bond and proceeded to buy an AR15 and 2000 rounds of ammo. He shot 5 people on I-75 and this is now entering the 3^rd day that they are trying to find him.

I feel sorry for those who were shot, for everyone else, not so much. They are reaping what they have sown with their ridiculous gun laws.

Supposedly his mom called the school to warn them 30 minutes before the shooting.

There has been another school shooting, this time in Madison, Wisconsin at a Christian school.

It's being reported that 5 people are dead and one of the dead is the shooter who was a student there. 

7 people have been transported to area hospitals.

Madison police are now saying there are 3 dead, rather than the 5 that were first reported. I suppose this could be subject to change, either up or down, as the day progresses.

The Madison police chief told reporters that the 911 call came in from a 2^nd grader at the school. A 2^nd grader. 

All the kids in schools these days will never know of a time they didn't have to have active shooter drills. It's sickening.

The shooter was a 15 year old female.

Yes, fluid numbers for now, last count was 2 dead, 6 injured, some "critical".

There has been another public shooting. He shot at little kids during Mass. I'm just seeing headlines now and as some of us know the details can quickly change as more information becomes available. I know the shooter is dead, he was a young white kid, it usually is, and it happened at a Catholic school during Mass in Minneapolis.

CBS News is reporting-

Two children are dead and 17 other people are injured after a shooting at a Catholic mass marking the first week of school at Annunciation Catholic School in south Minneapolis Wednesday morning. “Don't just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said in a news conference after the shooting. “These kids were literally praying. It was the first week of school. They were in a church.” Multiple federal sources tell CBS News that the shooter died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Ten year old student who witnessed shooting: "I heard [shots] again. I just ran under the pew and then I covered my head. My friend Victor saved me though, because he laid on top of me. But he got hit... He's really brave, and I hope he's good in the hospital."
