Annoying Celebrities
(08-26-2025, 08:35 PM)Duchess Wrote: I know happiness is a foreign concept to you given you like to wallow in misery but yeah, they make a lot of people happy, many, many people. Is many people okay, Sal? I don’t have an actual number, millions anyway so I guess many people will do.  78

What exactly do they do that makes you so happy? I hope you’re not rubbing it out to them.

Oh jeebus Christ. Amish much?

Buzz kill.

Celebrities (in general) aren’t the problem.

If the American people had understood the significance of what the Roman poet Decimus Junius Juvenalis referred to as "bread and circuses", we would not be standing on the precipice of disaster; our masters, unfortunately, understand it all too well.

The highest degree of ignorance is to be ignorant of one's ignorance, and in that regard the American people demonstrate excellence -- rich and poor alike.

I wasn't referring to myself in any of my comments. I know Travis because of football and I like classic rock, not pop music, but the whole world knows who Taylor Swift is. She just traveled the world making a billion big ones for entertaining millions of people who would have sold their first born just to get a ticket, her concerts made the news every single time she performed, that's how I know she made so many people happy, I saw it for myself.

I haven't rubbed one out in awhile, but when I do I won't be fantasizing about TS, I'll be fantasizing about my precious Angel Baby.  Dramaqueen

Happiness isn't transitory. Pleasure is, not happiness.

No you haven't. He's my sweet Clangy.

I was going to use another expression, but I wanted to be certain before posting it and when I googled it I was told I was describing a Vietnamese dish and now I'm laughing my ass off.  hah

Duchess is sweet like a little old grandma. I'd feel weirded out if my grandma was rubbing one out to me. Especially since all my grandparents are dead, even deader than my parents.

I’m not going to tear down all celebrities. It’s an absurd idea anyway. People become celebrities by any number of means (music, other arts, entertainment, sports, being born into a certain family) and some have been decent role models for kids (inspiring) and others have been shit role models and plain greedy mother fuckers. But I don’t see “celebrity” as being inherently bad.

Some people gained celebrity status by being trail blazers in their fields. Those people (even if they were imperfect) inspired others.

IDK much about Taylor Swift or Kelsey but if my daughter was young enough to view a female singer as a celebrity, I’d pick Swift over a lot of the women that came before her. Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston and Brittany Spears come to mind. Swift has (seemingly) thus far managed her celebrity status pretty damn well.

It's the culture, not celebrities per se.

Granted, some people are wrongfully given celebrity status but trying to squash that is just another form of authoritarianism.
