former Penn. State Coach Sandusky charged in child sex case
#61

It appears that the students don't have an issue with the role he played in this. I'd like to see something happen to that redheaded muthafucka who choose to overlook the raping of a child.

I'm really not into reading how any of them followed proper procedure, it's nothing more than an excuse, a way to set themselves apart from what went down. It's bullshit. A crime was committed, if they had integrity they would have reported it to the proper authorities. They choose not to.

IMO, Joe Paterno has gone from football icon to being a protector of a child rapist, molester and abuser.

This is what he'll be remembered for.

What kind of a person can protect someone suspected of these crimes?
How could he sleep at night?

Do we know if any of the mothers of these boys called the police?

Trustees: Penn State president removed, Paterno out immediately

Respect-applause

Finally, someone (in this case the board) realizes the magnitude of this issue, and had the balls to do something about it.

To have Paterno, in all his grand arrogance, say that he'd retire on his own terms, was going to be the ultimate slap in the face to the university, as well as all the victims in this case.

Well done, PSU Board of Regents. Well done.

MS, I understand your frustration with Joe. But as I said I was in a similar situation. One could accuse me of harboring a statutory rapist because I didn't call the authorities and instead informed my superiors. But as I pointed out had I notified the authorities and that Marine accused me of harassment I would not have my job. I'm not giving Joe a pass though. He had an obligation to notifiy his superiors and he did. By notifying a third party with investigative power he may end up in a lawsuit still but he won't be found cupable.

Firing the President is appropriate. Unfortunately being a leader you are responsible for the actions of those you select for positions beneath you regardless if you're aware of their conduct or not.

Sonny is right about how Universities are run. I worked for a College football program at the University of Toledo under now U of Missouri Coach Gary Pinkel. I got to see first hand how shady the University system can be. Congress should break it up begining with the BCS, the new Vegas for the college mafia.

The problem I have is many are acting like Joe was protecting Sandusky. Joe had asked Sandusky for his resignation 2 years prior to the incident and they separated on bad terms. I seriously doubt Joe would protect someone he had a legitimate grudge with.

I don't think the board had a ball among them. This a "get this shit out of the news RIGHT NOW" gambit to try and save face and keep the money flowing into their program.

The more that comes out and the bigger this thing gets, you have to start realizing how many people probably knew about this. It just makes me sick that Penn St. and mostly likely society as a whole, made evident by the protesting students last night, value winning, sports, and money over human life and doing the right thing.

MikeyA- My point about Paterno this whole time has not been 'Did he do the LEAST amount required LEGALLY to cover his ass?'

As more details emerge, and timelines are established, JoePa has done NOTHING morally or ethically to make sure a monster was taken off the streets.

Bottom line:

He looked the other way knowing that a child molester/child rapist was loose on the streets.

He's arguably the most powerful man in Happy Valley. If he truly cared about the well-being of CHILDREN, he could've made something happen.

Would it have been ugly for himself and the University if he had gone to the authorities? Probably.

Would people have applauded him for showing backbone and not looking the other way for one of his cronies in the end? Absolutely.

First, he did not look the other way. He reported it.

Secondly, He and Sandusky already had a beef. Had Sandusky not done what he was accused (Joe was not a witness nor did he have details) Sandusky then could have rightfully sued Joe.

Again, I was in this position and while I didn't inform authorities or have the individual locked up. You could say I protected a rapist. However in my case the individual was found innocent even though I believed him to be guilty.

i tell you what. if some highly respected coach had offered to take my 8 year old son to a game, imagine the child thrilled and excited...then raped him in a shower. ...i would have had no compunction about blowing his fucking brains out.

In your opinion did he do everything MORALLY that he should have done?

We're talking about kids here.

If Paterno had reported what he had been to LE, LE would have investigated before making any arrest. They would have interviewed the graduate assistant and the child. LE would have likely tried to keep the investigation quiet both to protect the child and because they wouldn't want to be seen as harrassing Penn State football coaches. If there was nothing there, few people would have been the wiser.

If it did become public and Sandusky was innocent, I doubt if a lawsuit would have gone anywhere. If he sued Paterno, his coaching career would be over. Paterno would have been fulfilling his legal duty to report child abuse; Sandusky's beef would have been with the graduate assistant.

How did you determine he didn't have details?

From the grand jury testimony: "The next morning, a Saturday, the graduate assistant telephoned Paterno and went to Paterno's home, where he reported what he had seen."

Further: "Paterno called Tim Curley ("Curley"), Penn State Athletic Director and Paterno's immediate superior, to his home the very next day, a Sunday, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy."

He certainly had enough details to know that "fondling" or "something of a sexual nature" occurred.

And: "Schultz testified that he was called to a meeting with Joe Paterno and Tim Curley, in which Paterno reported "disturbing" and "inappropriate" conduct in the shower by Sandusky upon a young boy, as reported to him by a student or graduate student."

He knew enough to say it was "disturbing" and "inappropriate".

State Penn or Penn State? I like Ped State better. But the catholic church had this issue also. Boy scouts of America is another factory of boys that are going to be infiltrated by these FAG men. All involved should be castrated. Think of how he brainwashed and controlled these kids. A person in a sheeps skin who is a wolf, these poor kids are going to have a rough life. This FAG has ruined many little innocent Boys lives, that is why he should be stoned to death.

FWIW -- unless you're using "FAG" as some kind of acronym -- most pedophiles are heterosexual, even when they molest the same sex..

Even if he suspected it. You're exactly right. He looked the other way. He's scum and what he did is criminal. I don't care who he is. A child rapist, molester or abuser is the lowest of the low on this earth and so are those who protect them.

Really, What two MEN do is their business. You are an idiot, and whether one does or doesn't approve of homosexuality is irrelevant here. This is a crime against children.

MikeyA, you can't compare the military with a civilian life. Bottm line, any and all of these mofo's should have done something while this was going on. They are ALL guilty of a cover up. There really isn't anything else to say. I don't care that they did this or that and told this one or that one. None of them called the police and made a report. None of them stopped Sandusky from hurting children. When the GA saw the attack going on in the shower, he should have called 911 right then and there and NOT let Sandusky leave. But no, he LEFT. Told Joe P the next day. And Joe P told whoever the day after that. Who does that???? What kind of sick SOB doesn't report that immediately? They could have even made an annymous report if they were so worried about their jobs.
