My POS phone is almost out of storage. So I should take random photos of the northern sky in the hope that even though I can't see the northern lights with my naked eye, my phone might? Seems logical and a good use of my time.

No. I have today off for Labor Day. I'm at home. Might go out shortly to smoke cigars and watch wrestling with friends.

Just checking. I worry about you and your job, Clang, don't you fuck it up. To retire from the State is a good thing.

I went for a walk with my mom yesterday along a river and there were almost no insects and birds. All I can think of is that the state had sprayed for mosquitos.
What the hell are we doing to this world?

I did fuck it up last week and go off payroll for 2 days but I might have an opportunity to work overtime on Saturdays from 630am-1230pm to make up the lost days.
Yeah retirement will be great. Wish I could do it now instead of 10 years, but need to wait until I can collect Social Security.

Fucking it up!!!
A couple decades ago (when my kids were little), every year there were a few areas in our town that would get inundated with black, woolly caterpillars. It doesn’t happen anymore. There was another area that would get inundated with tiny toads. Also gone.
I can’t point at crop dusters or large use of pesticides (that wouldn’t go over well here). IDK. Maybe some pesticide use combined with climate change and loss of habitat? It’s weird though.

It's raining & chilly, my favorite kind of day. I don't feel compelled to do anything.

I think we’ll reach 80 degrees today which will be hot enough for a swim with the dog. I doubt the weather will cooperate too much longer.

I have cute frogs outside my window, 6 of them! I was reading up about them and the first results of a search were, " How to get rid of frogs in your yard"
Wtf
People can't fucking live with nature because frogs are too loud and shouldn't exist.
I'm trying to figure out how to keep them in my yard.

That's a huge pet peeve for me. City people move to a rural area and they want to kill everything that scares them or makes them uncomfortable. When I see them talking about killing the snakes it makes my head spin. They want to poison the ground hogs that come into their yards and they all would like to shoot the geese that are attracted to their ponds. I see them bitching & complaining on my town's board. I detest them all.
This has nothing to do with nature but everything to do with the type of people I'm referring to. Hunting season opened and as you would expect you hear gunshots. More than once active shooter calls have been made to 911 and of course first responders respond with force!

At the risk of sounding like a raging, liberal extremist, when wasn't Western colonialism at war with the world and everything in it?
There's a sickness in Western culture that offends my human sensibilities. Trump's an extreme manifestation of it but it's been there for hundreds of years.
Hope that doesn't offend anyone.

Nope, not offended
People's green lawns in place of natural vegetation is a sign.
I'm not against a lawn btw
But when so many chemicals have to be used and one has no natural eco system for local wild life....
